- Summary
- This logbook of the British ship of war H.M.S. Dryad contains entries made between February 22, 1831 and August 16, 1832. Commodore John Hays was its commanded and the tender, "Black Joke," was kept by C.W. Otway while the Dryad cruised off the west coast of Africa, touching at Sierra Leone, the Princes' Islands, and Ascension Island. From there, the ship traveled to Spithead, England. There is occasional mention of slaver traders captured by other British ships. Logbook contains two sketches of islands visited.
