- Mary Stoughton (whose full name was Mary Fiske Bound Green Stoughton) was married to Edwin Wallace Stoughton, U. S. Minister to Russia. She kept this diary between May 23, 1878 and February 16, 1879. Entries describe the couple's travels in Spain, France, and England, and events of their official life at the Russian Court in St. Petersburg.
