"Merrimac" from Rio de Janiero to Valparaiso, Dec. 1857 to Feb. 1858, describing cities visited, Christmas dinner on board, passage around Cape Horn, ship routine, sea birds, etc; continued cruise from Callao, Peru, to Honolulu, Hawaii, description of Callao and Lima, the President's Ball, bull fight, life and food aboard ship, etc. Last entry dated Oct. 12, 1858
