  • Massimo Taparelli, marquis d'Azeglio was an Italian statesman, novelist, and painter. His achievements in the area of the performing arts include the composition of an opera and the design of its scenery, and his historical novel Ettore Fieramosca (1833) was the basis for ballets of the same title by Giovanni Galzerani (1837) and Giovanni Pogna (1878).
