Biography (note)
  • In the letter of August 9, 1835, Mendelssohn asked his friend Aloys Fuchs to obtain a copy of Mozart's arrangement of Handel's Acis and Galatea. In the letter of August 28, 1835 Mendelssohn thanks Fuchs for obtaining the copy. (See R. Larry Todd, Mendelssohn and His World, p. 296-97.) Mendelssohn performed the last scenes of Acis and Galatea in Mozart's version (undoubtedly from this score) on Feburary 4, 1836.
