  • Handcarved Coffins originally served as the second section of Capote's three-section book Music for Chameleons, published by Random House in 1980. The rights to this partially dramatized script were held by United Artists Corporation although it is not in a screenplay format. It is, instead, written as a treatment that could be developed into a stage play or motion picture.
