Summary
Biography of Robert Nichols of Brooklyn, New York, written by a female relative at an unknown date. Nichols was born in 1790 and died in 1862. He was identified with philanthropic and public service institutions of Brooklyn; active in the militia, serving in the War of 1812 and becoming a brigadier general in 1827; a founder of the Apprentices Library in 1823; a founder of the Brooklyn City Dispensary; vice president of the Brooklyn City Hospital from 1845 to 1849 and 1852 to 1862; and President of Brooklyn Gas Light Company from 1848 until an unspecified date. Binder's title is "Memoir."
