  • Silas Wright was an American lawyer and statesman, and a member of the "Albany Regency" that dominated the New York State politics in the early decades of the 19th Century. He was a member of the New York State senate from 1824 to 1827, and was elected to the Twentieth Congress in 1826. Wright was elected to the United States Senate in 1833, and served until 1844.
