  • The Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority was founded in 1922, the first sorority of Black women on a predominantly white campus, Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Northeast Conference was organized in 1939 in New York City and incorporates chapters in several countries in addition to other states.
  • Projects encompass providing African women with agricultural assistance, and in the United States, programs include prenatal health education, undergraduate drugs, alcohol, and abuse awareness, and a financial seminar designed for young people.
