Summary
Representations of ballroom dancing in England between 1817 and 1826, captured in etchings by the brothers George Cruikshank and Robert (who signed his prints I.R. for Isaac Robert) Cruikshank. With the exception of the print titled Breaking up, the images are presented with minor exaggeration of physical features, expressions, or positions. In Breaking up, which depicts a children's dance, a number of the participants (both adults and children) are caricatures, among them the dancing master with his fiddle.
