Biography (note)
  • The opera Pharamond (music, François-Adrien Boieldieu, Henri Montan Berton, Rodolphe Kreutzer and Joseph Daussoigne; libretto, François Ancelot, Alexandre Guiraud, and Alexandre Soumet; choreography, Pierre Gardel; scenery, Pierre-Luc-Charles Cicéri; costumes, Hippolyte Lecomte) was first presented at the Académie Royale de Musique, Paris, on the occasion of the coronation of Charles X in 1825.
  • Although one source identifies the dancer in this print as Jean François Coulon, fl. 1787-1830, a highly respected French ballet teacher whose students included the ballerina Marie Taglioni, the subject is more likely his son Antoine-Louis Coulon, 1796-1849, who was a principal dancer at the Académie Royale de Musique, or Paris Opéra, from 1816 to 1832.
  • Probably part of the series Recueil des costumes de tous les ouvrages dramatique représentés avec succès sur les grands théâtres de Paris, published in Paris by Augustin Vizentini, a former actor, from 1819 until about 1825. This print was probably executed by the lithographer Fauconier or Fauconnier (the spelling of his name is uncertain) after a costume design by Hippolyte Lecomte.
