Description
1 print : lithograph, hand-colored; 50 x 35 cm.
Summary
Costume design? for a woman dressed in a westerner's interpretation of Chinese clothing. She wears a thigh-length jacket with a stiff, ornately decorated collar over a bell-shaped ankle-length white skirt. A fringed sash is tied under her belly, and large tassels hang over her skirt. She appears to be wearing leggings, and her shoes have turned-up toes. Jewels dangle from her headdress, and she wears large hoop earrings. In her right hand she carries a rose; in her left, a fly-whisk. She stands silhouetted against the sky; a distant pagoda is visible on the low horizon.
