- The brothers George and Robert (also called Isaac Robert) Cruikshank followed in the footsteps of their father Isaac, 1764-1811, as printmakers and caricaturists. George Cruikshank, the best-known of the three, moved from political and social satire to book illustration; among his works are the illustrations to Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist (1838).
