- Summary
- Depiction of a ball in a room cooled by a punkah, a large screenlike fan often used in India. Two couples are dancing, observed by other ladies and gentlemen. With the exception of a dark-skinned man in a white turban and dhoti, all are Europeans, in fashionable garments of the mid-nineteenth century.
