  • Disc 1, March 19, 2012 (approximately 48 minutes). Marya Warshaw speaks with Eva Yaa Asantewaa about her parents and family background; her childhood and important teachers and mentors in her life, including June Finch; studying at the New Dance Group studio and her experience with different styles and techniques taught there; working with Charles Weidman; more on the general culture and social climate of her childhood and how it related to her experiencing of the arts; interning at the Performance Garage; her appreciation of the diverse creative education she received ; the personal challenges she faced during this period.
  • Disc 2, March 19, 2012 (approximately 49 minutes). Marya Warshaw speaks with Eva Yaa Asantewaa about how she feels she benefited from her hard work in dance classes; studying ballet with James Waring; her decision to attend Bard College; studying with Aileen Passloff; the themes that developed in her life during these years; her first experience developing a performance space, Chichicastenango; the East Village and New York City in general during this period (late 1960s, early 1970s); more on Chichicastenango and her growing realization of the nature of her life's work

Marya Warshaw speaks with Eva Yaa Asantewaa about having her first child and the changes in her life that resulted; New York City during the 1980s, including the AIDS epidemic; shifting her creative and personal focus from Manhattan to Brooklyn; the development of the Outback Performance Series; the early development of the Brooklyn Arts Exchange [formerly the Gowanus Arts Exchange], the expansion of the Outback Series; Outmusic and The Women's Festival; the move from the Gowanus area of Brooklyn to the Park Slope area of Brooklyn and the huge growth that subsequently occurred.

Marya Warshaw speaks with Eva Yaa Asantewaa further about BAX [Brooklyn Arts Exchange] and Warshaw's philosophy as to how it serves artists; examples of artists who have participated in BAX programs, including Dean Moss and Luciana Achugar; reflections on New York City during the mayorship of Rudolph Guliani; BAX's role within Brooklyn and within the public education system; her participation in the Bessie Award [New York Dance and Performance Awards] committee; her own philosophy on evaluating performance works; the book that she is writing on the value of the urban residency model she developed at BAX; hopes for the future.
