Summary
Benjamin Drake (1805-1871) was a physician in New York City in the early 19th century. After graduating from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, he continued his studies in Europe before returning to New York to establish a practice. Drake held offices with the Medical Society of the County of New York, the New York State Medical Society, and the New York Academy of Medicine. The correspondence consists of letters by and to Drake relating to his medical practice, politics, and other matters. Included are letters describing his 1827 trip to Liverpool, England, and its environs.
