Summary
Various artists and staff of the Academy introduce themselves, speak about the Academy, its schedule of activities, projects creating new works or practicing improvisation. The Shapiros speak (in English) about their creation of the Academy and its components -- a school in California, a touring ensemble, an archives initiative, and a publishing arm. They speak about the importance of preserving repertoire; about Sophiline's original works blending classical and contemporary dance. Toni Shapiro speaks about the mission of the research and archives initiative: gathering documentation of the Academy, creating interviews with dancers, recording lyrics, documenting rituals, education.
