- Truman Capote was born Truman Strekfus Persons in New Orleans on September 24, 1924. A celebrated author, Capote's major works include Other Voices, Other Rooms; Breakfast at Tiffany's; and In Cold Blood. He died on August 25, 1984. This collection contains letters written by Truman Capote to his friend and literary colleague Pearl Kazin between 1949 and 1956 while Capote was living in Taormina, Sicily, and are primarily personal in nature.
