- Jule Styne, a songwriter famous for many songs and Broadway musicals, speaks about his work for Darryl Zanuck, studio executive at Fox; the process of learning to write songs while continuing to work in Hollywood; his collaboration with Frank Loesser that led to recognition; his initial reluctance to collaborate with Sammy Cahn, a lyricist and songwriter, and their further successful partnership; his profound dislike for Hollywood work ethics and coming back to New York; his production of the revival of the musical "Pal Joey" with libretto by John O'Hara, based on his book with the same title, and songs by the composer Richard Rodgers and the lyricist Lorenz Hart during the McCarthy witch-hunt; his production of the musical Mr. Wonderful with Sammy Davis, Jr. ; his return to Hollywood and the composition of the famous song "Three coins in the fountain" with Cahn (their last collaboration); his other hit shows such as Gypsy, Funny Girl, and Bells are ringing; choreographer Jerome Robbins with whom he did six shows; his famous associates and partners; and much more.
