- In the first 15 minutes of this recording, Mikhail Baryshnikov is depicted in a few excerpts performing modern dance and talking about his life in Soviet Riga, Latvia and America, the essence of solo dance, and contemporary dance (in English). Maurice Béjart , a dancer and choreographer, explains the style, choreography and the story of a certain dance performed by Baryshnikov, an excerpt of which is shown as he talks, and analyzes modern and classical dance (in French). Roman Polanski, a film director, speaks about his friendship with Baryshnikov, their similar background as emigrants from "behind the iron curtain," and Baryshnikov's tirelessness and energy (in French).
