- Summary
- The Tuitt Family papers, 1931-1974, consist mostly of letters to Charles Tuitt from his family in Montserrat, Antigua and the U.S. Virgin Islands and cover family news, gossip, and the difficult economic conditions on these islands. Additionally, the letters from his nieces reveal the often circuitous routes Caribbean immigrants took to the United States. The collection also contains materials relating to the military service during World War II of Charles's two sons, John and James. There are files documenting the visits of the Montserrat Progressive Society to their home island in 1969 and 1974 and containing genealogical information on the family.
