Summary
Elsie Leslie (1881-1966) was a child actor who was best known for her portrayal of the title character in the original stage production of Little Lord Fauntleroy (1888). She was also known for playing the lead roles Editha's Burglar (1887) and The Prince and Pauper (1890). The Elsie Leslie photographs and memorabilia (1884-1900) mostly relate to her major childhood roles. The collection contains promotional photographs of Leslie; an Elsie Leslie paper doll; a portrait of Leslie by Julian Alden Weir; a drawing of Leslie in The Prince and the Pauper; an advertisement for Little Lord Fauntleroy stationery; a program for the hundredth performance of Little Lord Fauntleroy at the Broadway Theatre; a copy of The Birds' Christmas Carol, inscribed with a poem to Leslie by Kate Douglas Wiggin; and various other pieces of memorabilia.
