  • The event, known as "Death of a Hippie," was a mock-funeral procession organized by Peter Berg and held one year after California banned LSD.
  • Copies of these small handbills were displayed in many Haight-Ashbury storefronts in the days leading up to the event.
  • Peter Berg was a co-founder of the San Francisco counterculture guerilla theater and social activist group The Diggers, and its communications arm, the Communications Company (com/co).
