- George Boziwick, Chief of the Music Division of The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, interviews Leon Kirchner, American composer of contemporary classical music, conductor and pianist. Kirchner talks about his life and musical career, including his experience as a conductor, and his influences such as his teacher at the University of California, Los Angeles, Arnold Schoenberg, who inspired Kirchner's musical style, but although Kirchner did not employ the twelve-tone technique. The program includes recordings of various musical works composed or conducted by the interviewee.
