Franziska Boas speaks with Marian Horosko about how she first came to study dance with Bird Larson; her own career as a dance teacher; working with Larson at Barnard College and at her studio; more on how she came to study with Larson; Larson's personality and physical appearance; their costumes for class and for performance; Larson's professional background; Larson's movement technique including why it was advanced for its time; Boas's thoughts on Isadora Duncan; the various technical exercises Larson taught; concert performances including a dance, Seasons, based on William Blake's paintings; the splintering off of Larson's students into two groups after her death; studying with Hanya Holm and learning dynamic technique.
