Summary
Part 1: Michael Tilson Thomas examines the evolution of Gershwin's compositions. Part 2: A raw recording of a program taped for a broadcast and featuring Neville Marriner, a renowned British conductor, who traces his career from a violinist in the London Symphony Orchestra to the foundation of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and becoming its conductor. Marriner elaborates on the functions, activity and the repertoire of the orchestra and discusses his guest conducting schedule and future plans. The musical portions of the program are not included.
