- Summary
- This collection consists of scrapbooks and loose photographs concerning Harold Ross, founder and editor the New Yorker, and his family. The scrapbooks were assembled by Ross's daughter, Patricia Ross Honcoop. The largest scrapbook, titled "My Father" (volume 1) contains photographs of Ross as a child; in uniform during World War I; at home in Stamford, Connecticut; with Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney; and with other friends and associates. The scrapbook also includes official documents related to Ross' service in the war; letters he wrote home from Paris in 1918; a short note from Noel Coward; a memorandum from New Yorker managing editor James M. Cain; a memorandum from Ross regarding the May 2, 1931 issue; and clippings. The other scrapbooks (volume 2 and box 1) contain photographs of Harold Ross, photographs of Patricia Ross with her maternal family, clippings, and letters. Scrapbooks are in fragile condition and one is disbound.
