- Poetical commonplace book containing poems apparently copied from contemporary printed sources. Most poems by Byron and Thomas Moore; others by Samuel Rogers, Wordsworth, Felicia Hemans, Lady Caroline Lamb, etc. Ownership signature on front pastedown: "Cecilia Smith Sep 21st 1827." Notebook bound in dark blue-green half roan over marbled boards.

- Cecilia Smith was born on January 23, 1811, the fifth child of the Rev. Samuel Smith (1765-1841), later dean of Christ Church, Oxford, and his wife, Anne. In 1833 Cecilia married the Rev. Richard Harington (1800-1853), who became Principal of Brasenose College in 1842. The Haringtons had three children: Richard (later Sir Richard Harington, 11th Bart.), Charles and Margaret. Cecilia Harington died June 18, 1844, aged 33.
