Summary
Positively Black is a public-affairs program broadcast on WNBC-TV (Channel 4) New York, examining the political and cultural life of the African American community since 1970. Gus Heningburg, the highly respected Newark-based activist and negotiator, was the program's host and driving force beginning in the late 1970s to 1990. The collection consists of 131 complete episodes hosted by Heningburg from 1979 to 1990. Notable guests included Romare Bearden, Shirley Chisholm, Jesse Jackson, and Spike Lee.
