Summary
This scrapbook was possibly kept by Charles Turner of St. Louis in 1896 and 1897; consists of clippings from different newspapers about issues and events, both serious and not-so-serious, affecting Black people. Subjects in clippings include: white violence against Black workers at Hawthorne Mills, Eldorado, Arkansas; Richard T. Greener; Masons; Sandy Alexander Mix of St. Louis; O.M. Wood, principal of L'Ouverture Colored School; B.T. Washington; and the Black vote. There are programs and playbills for theatrical events, concerts, and lectures, and a poem.
