  • The Black Filmmaker Foundation (BFF) is a nonprofit membership organization co-founded in 1978 by Warrington Hudlin (July 16, 1952 -) with the purpose of distributing Black-made films outside of theatrical release, and to foster relationships and dialogue between Black filmmakers and audiences. Since its founding, the organization has worked with and promoted the work of new filmmakers such as Neema Barnette, Steven Torriano Berry, and Spike Lee. In addition to Black arts, style, and culture, recurring subjects in the collection include responses to gang and gun violence, relationships between Black men and women, the AIDS crisis, and the 1992 Los Angeles uprising.
