Note
  • The manuscript is the account of the festivities surrounding the meeting of the Order of Golden Fleece in Antwerp, coinciding with the entry of Philip II into the city. Diary and drawings sent to the Prince de Werchin, who could not attend due to illness.
  • Layout: Written in up to 43 long lines per page, some ruling by stylus, other not visible.
  • Decoration: 30 watercolor drawings and 50 coats of arms, some including human and animal figures. Watercolors and coats of arms. Gold initials on red/blue fields. Rubrics, yellow daubs as placemarkers.
  • Scribe: Jacques le Boucq.
  • Script: Gothic cursive; humanistic cursive; rustic capitals.
  • Artist: Jacques le Boucq.
  • Dated by the scribe: 1555 on f. 1 -- year of meeting of Order of the Golden Fleece in Antwerp, and entrance of Philip II into the city --Title page.
  • ff. 1v, 2 coats of arms of Prince de Werchin and of his wife's family, the Vergy, and f. 65. coat of arms of Werchin.

  • The manuscript is listed and fully described by Baron Reiffenberg in his book on the Golden Vliess (La Toison d'Or) published in Brussels in 1830.
