- Founded in 1922, the Henrytown Tuberculosis Sanatorium was one of the first facilities established in Maryland to provide medical treatment to Black patients suffering from tuberculosis. The Henryton Tuberculosis Sanatorium ledger is a handwritten log for several thousand patients treated at the sanatorium from January 1944 to October 1960.
