Summary
Preston Wilcox (1923-2006) was a Black educator, sociologist, and community organizer. Wilcox was at the forefront of the community control movement in the mid-1960s, and founded AFRAM Associates, a public service agency in Harlem, in 1968. The Preston Wilcox photographs, dated from the 1960s to 2003, showcase his personal life and AFRAM Associates' community work via photographic prints, slides, and negatives.
