- In his prefatory letter to the 1959 out-of-print first edition of this text for military personnel and historians, Dwight D. Eisenhower comments on the usefulness of studying prior campaigns in readiness for future ones. This edition updates this classic atlas, with numerous maps grounding its analysis of American involvement on all fronts in World War I--a war eclipsed in coverage by World War II and the Civil War. It also follows the development of military theory and practice from the prewar to League of Nations period. Includes a chronology of events, recommended reading list, but no index. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.
