- Summary
- [Lovecraft to Wandrei, August 23, 1927] Dear Melinoth: -- As you have been made aware by recent messages, your laconic univerbal card & interesting final travelogue ceached me in the midst of a surprising prolongation of my social season! I was indeed delighted to hear of your saferetunt, & hope the express packagereached you withent disaster. Just now I am still sampling the Athol hospitality of which you had such a brief taste -- though I have had only one glimpse of Munn, who was called away Friday night because of the accidental death of a friend in Permsylvania I shall see him again tonight, however. Tomornue I hit the lone trail again -- probably in the direction of Boston rather than Providence, since I want to work in the Portland trip if possible before going home. "About "Nathicana" -- it surely is the satire I mean, & is wholly distinct from the other verse with "joke" framework of heroics which I read to you in Providence. I'm sorry if it fell short of its purpose -- but that is no doubt a frequent circanstance with burlesque of the sort. It is hard to give just the right touch of humour in mimicking the emptiness of certain kinds of stereotyped & meaning less fantasy.
