Bruce Marks speaks with Theresa Bowers about his childhood; his time at the High School for the Performing Arts in New York City; performing in Pearl Lang's work Ironic rite; taking class with Muriel Stuart; his first impressions of Merce Cunningham's choreography; meeting Ted Shawn, at Jacob's Pillow; his initial doubts about his ability to become a ballet dancer; Pearl Lang; his study of acting; his year at Brandeis University; his study of modern dance with various teachers including at May O'Donnell's studio; his impressions of Martha Graham including as compared to Lang; leaving Brandeis University to attend the Juilliard School.
