Mr. de Palmer discusses leaving Panama and coming to Brooklyn as a child; being inspired by seeing Ritha Devi perform; seeing June Lewis and Company perform and starting to take class with June Lewis; his first performance in a reconstruction of Doris Humphrey's The shakers; Anna Sokolow's composition class; his knee injury and recovery. -- Cassette 2. Discusses his experiences at the Metropolitan School for the Arts in Syracuse, New York; trying to create a dance company there; the difficulties in recruiting male dancers; working at Syracuse University and his eventual decision to leave there; ways that living with AIDS has changed his thinking; describes taking class with Charles Weidman in the last year of Weidman's life and how he frequently referred to Doris Humphrey.
