  • Cassette 1. Luigi discusses the circumstances of his birth and his family; his early dance training with his brother; first performances; performing with Ted Lewis; joining the navy; the end of World War II; going to California and studying at the Falcon studio under the G.I. bill; his severe injuries from an auto accident and his recovery; using ballet barre exercises in his recuperation; auditioning for Gene Kelly; being involved in motion pictures and continuing to work in clubs; his first choreography job; and Bob Alton encouraging him to teach.
  • Cassette 2. Luigi discusses the relationship between his rehabilitation process and the development of Luigi jazz dance technique; bringing the technique from Hollywood to Broadway; and solidifying the international spread of his technique.
  • Cassette 3. [Recorded on left speaker only.] Luigi discusses how to use his ideas in performance; other teachers of his technique; the specific details of his classes; the influence of Michio Ito on his own teaching; his interest in choreography; his company; his potential new school; the definition of jazz dance and its relationship to modern dance and ballet; reflections on his past, the auto accident, his own personality and childhood; and the comparison between his own past and the contemporary dancer's method of carving out a career.
