  • Fuller is the recipient of several honors and awards: Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 1982, for "A soldier's play," 1981; Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship, 1975; Obie Award, 1980, for "Zooman and the sign," 1980, which was also selected by the Burns Mantle Theater Yearbook Best Plays series as a "Best Play" of 1980-1981. "A soldier's play," besides the Pulitzer Prize, won additional awards like, the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, as the best American Play, the Outer Critics' Circle Award, as the Best off-Broadway Play, the Theater Club Award as the Best Play.

Biography
Playwright, screenwriter, TV scriptwriter, theater director, and journalist. Charles Fuller was born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1939. He was educated at Villanova University (1956-1958), and received his B.A. from LaSalle College, 1967. Fuller has edited several newspapers in Philadelphia, he was one of the founders of Kuntu, an organization of black writers and artists, and was the co-founder and co-director of the Afro-American Arts Theater in Philadelphia, 1967-1971. A number of his television scripts have been produced on local Philadelphia TV channels.
