Pforzheimer copy: Penciled ownership signature ("Robert Stratton Holmes") on verso of front free endpapers of volumes 1 and 3. -- Binder's ticket of Burn of 37 & 38 Kirby St. in volume 1. -- Cinnamon-colored ripple-grain cloth, gilt spine titling, rules, and decorations, decorative borders in blind on covers. Cover blocking, spine ornaments, and endpapers vary among volumes. Cf. Carter, Binding variants, plate 8. Volumes 1 & 2 correspond to variant A and have buff endpapers; volume 3 corresponds to variant B and has pale yellow endpapers.
