- Summary
- Former New York City Ballet dancer Jillana discusses her early training, studying at School of American Ballet and auditioning for the musical, Destry rides again. She discusses being asked to join New York City Ballet; her first impressions of George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins and Lincoln Kirstein. She describes touring with chaperons as a child, Balanchine's lesson in tendus, working with Balanchine on the creation of Liebeslieder Walzer, and rehearsing with Robbins. She discusses her favorite ballet and her admiration for Maria Tallchief's dancing. In closing, she shares her thoughts on New York City Ballet's future, her current professional activities, and reflects on being favored by Balanchine.
