- Discs 1-2 (ca. 90 min.). Michael Tracy discusses his family background, his artistic and physical training; his choice to attend Dartmouth College and his experiences there including inspiring teachers and classes; dance classes with Alison Chase; her influence in developing his concept of choreography; the experimental atmosphere at the college at that time; the early evolution of Pilobolus [Dance Theatre]; his ambivalence and then decision to join the company; his developing identity and acceptance of himself as a performing artist; early structure of the company and first pieces; the evolution of the company's work and process; training a new generation of dancers; economic and administrative strategies for the company's survival and future.
