  • Jay Millard discusses the beginnings of his career, working as a camera operator for public television while a student at Trinity College [in Hartford, Conn.]; the development of passion and commitment to his work; first professional opportunities; moving to New York and his experiences working as a director and associate director as well a cameraman for the New York Public Library's Theatre on Film and Tape Archive and for WNET, Chanel Thirteen; working as associate director for Emile Ardolino on the filming of George Balanchine's ballet The spellbound child [Enfant et les sortilèges]; an anecdotal experience regarding Balanchine; his thoughts on Ardolino's skills and the way he was influenced by him; his experiences taping Jerome Robbins' Broadway and the 1993 Balanchine Festival [Balanchine Celebration].
