  • Disc 1 (ca. 45 min.). Jock Soto speaks about his family background; first experiences with dance; including Navajo Hoop dancing with his mother; his early ballet training, including with Stanley Williams; hearing of Williams' death; Soto's own retirement; his earliest memories of the School of American Ballet, including meeting Lincoln Kirstein; the atmosphere at the school in those years; his first years with the company; reminiscences, including of George Balanchine, Peter Martins, and their influence on his career; his performances with the school; his perception of himself as a dancer; his favorite roles; partnering; the pas de deux in Balanchine's Midsummer night's dream.

Jock Soto speaks about his pas de deux in Christopher Wheeldon's After the rain; lessons he has learned and the lessons that he tries to impart to his students; working with different ballerinas; changes in his rehearsal style late in his career; teaching and staging; plans for his post-retirement future; the program he danced at his final performance; other brief reflections on his career.
